OFERMOD – „Drakosophia“
Nach ihrem Beitrag zur dreiteiligen Split-Veröffentlichung Drakonia Elitism (2023) mit Black Altar und Acherontas präsentierten OFERMOD am 3. Oktober 2025 ihr neues Album Drakosophia.
Für die Umsetzung hat sich Belfagor namhafte Weggefährten ins Studio geholt: Devo Andersson (Marduk/Pain) an Bass und Gitarre sowie Florian Musil (Theotoxin/Agrypnie) am Schlagzeug. Am Mikrofon steht Adeptus, ein Neuzugang, dessen harscher, leicht kehliger Vortrag stilistisch erstaunlich nah an OFERMODs Stammstimme Nebiros heranreicht – obwohl er die Band inzwischen wieder verlassen hat.
In den knapp 45 Minuten Spielzeit entfaltet sich erneut jener kompromisslose orthodoxe Black Metal, für den OFERMOD seit ihren Anfängen stehen. Damit ist eigentlich schon vorab klar, dass Genrekenner Drakosophia in ihre Sammlung aufnehmen sollten. Wie seit Mysterium Iniquitatis (2021) finden sich erneut chorale Gesangspassagen, und der meist rasende Black Metal pendelt zwischen eingängigen, teils death-metallisch akzentuierten Riffs und markanten melodischen Black Metal-Leads.
Ein Blick in die Texte verdeutlicht schnell, weshalb OFERMOD zur Speerspitze des Orthodox Black Metal zählen: auch diesmal steuerte Thomas Karlsson, Gründer des okkulten Ordens Dragon Rouge, konzeptionelle Impulse bei. Thematisch kreisen die Lyrics um nicht-christliche Einweihungswege und initiatorische Transformationsprozesse, wie sie in den magischen Schulen des Linken Pfades gelehrt werden. Für Belfagor ist Musik selbst ein ritueller Akt, ein Ausdruck operativer Magie.
Auch auf Drakosophia lässt sich die Abfolge der Stücke als initiatorischer Pfad lesen, der die metaphysische Entwicklung des Akolythen nachzeichnet.
So eröffnet sich für den Hörer weit mehr als bloßer Black Metal „pur et simple“ – OFERMOD laden einmal mehr zur Erkundung eines in sich geschlossenen esoterischen Kosmos ein.
Das Werk verlangt Aufmerksamkeit und Hingabe, belohnt jedoch mit einer Dichte und Ernsthaftigkeit, die man im modernen Black Metal nur selten findet.

After their contribution to the widely noted three-part split release Drakonia Elitism (2023) with Black Altar and Acherontas, OFERMOD presented their new album Drakosophia on October 3, 2025.
For the recording, Belfagor brought several renowned collaborators into the studio: Devo Andersson (Marduk/Pain) on bass and guitar, and Florian Musil (Theotoxin/Agrypnie) on drums. The vocals were performed by Adeptus, a new addition whose harsh, slightly guttural delivery stylistically comes remarkably close to OFERMOD’s regular vocalist Nebiros – even though he has since left the band.
Over its roughly 45 minutes of playing time, the album once again unfolds the uncompromising orthodox Black Metal for which OFERMOD have been known since their beginnings. It is therefore evident that genre aficionados will want to add Drakosophia to their collection. As already established on Mysterium Iniquitatis (2021), choral vocal passages appear once more, and the predominantly fast Black Metal shifts between catchy, partly death-metal-tinged riffs and prominent melodic Black Metal leads.
A look at the lyrics quickly shows why OFERMOD are counted among the spearheads of Orthodox Black Metal: Thomas Karlsson, founder of the occult order Dragon Rouge, again contributed conceptual ideas. Thematically, the lyrics revolve around non-Christian paths of initiation and transformative processes as taught in the magical schools of the Left-Hand Path. For Belfagor, music itself is a ritual act, an expression of operative magic.
On Drakosophia, too, the sequence of the tracks can be read as an initiatory path tracing the metaphysical development of the acolyte. Thus, the listener encounters far more than Black Metal pur et simple—OFERMOD once again invite an exploration of a self-contained esoteric cosmos.
The work demands attention and dedication, but rewards with a density and seriousness rarely found in modern Black Metal.
